Naidu alleges ''undeclared emergency'' in AP
Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Drawing a parallel with the drubbing received by Republican Party, Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that the same fate would befall the Congress government led by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as there was an ''undeclared emergency'' in the state.
''Phones of opposition leaders, including myself, are being tapped. Curbs are imposed on the media and cases foisted on workers of opposition parties,'' he said at a press conference here.
The tremendous response from the youth for the party's ''Yuva Garjana'' meeting in Guntur yesterday proved that there was a ''strong undercurrent against the corrupt and anti-people state government.'' Alleging rampant corruption in major irrigation projects, he urged the government to put on the internet all details regarding the projects.
Maintaining that the family members of party's founder N T Rama Rao were actively campaigning to strengthen the party founded by NTR, he said Balakrishna does not propose to contest elections.
He had campaigned for the party in the 1990's and would do so now also, Mr Naidu added.
