Hizb district commander, OGW arrested in Kishtwar
Jammu, Nov 6 (UNI) A self-styled district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was apprehended today in the North of hilly Kishtwar district while an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of the militant outfit was arrested in Rajouri, an army spokesman said.
''The HM commander, Ghulam Ali Malik alias Dr Kamaldin, 47, was apprehended by a column of Rashtriya Rifles at Navapachchi in north of Kishtwar,'' Col D K Kachari told UNI.
Dr Kamaldin was active in the militancy since 1992 and was one of the oldest surviving militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
Arrest of Dr Kamaldin is being considered as major achievement in the counter-insurgency operations.
In another incident, a joint team of Army and police apprehended an OGW of HM at Kalakote in Western district of Rajouri today.
The apprehended OGW was identified as Maqbool Hussain, 30, son of Abdul Gaffar, resident of Telna.
