Foundation stone for Baba Bhalku Rail museum to be laid down .
Shimla, Nov 6 (UNI) Minister of State for Railway R Velu and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal would unveil a plaque declaring the Kalka-Shimla railway as World Heritage Site, lay the foundation stone for Baba Bhalku Rail Museum and release a special postal cover on this World Heritage Site.
Celebration with regard to the World Heritage Status of 104-year-old Shimla-Kalka-rail track by the UNESCO which is a tribute to Bhalku, an illiterate genius who played a vital role in translating the dream project of the British into a reality, would take place on November 9, 2008, Secretary, Tourism Manisha Nanda said here after presiding over a joint meeting between Himachal Tourism and Indian Railway yesterday to finalisee the preparations.
The Toy train will run from Shimla upto Kaithlighat carrying dignitaries and school children in traditional dresses.
As the train will cover six rail stations during the journey, of local panchayat members, students and local people would extend a warm traditional welcome to the train and dignitaries, he added.
