DHBVN recovers Rs 3.87 cr in power theft cases
Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has recovered Rs 3.87 crore from the errant consumers who were stealing electricity upto October 31 during the current financial year.
A UHBVN spokesman said here today that the Nigam detected 5378 cases of pilferage of power and the penalty of Rs 8.05 crore had been imposed.
As many as 1454 cases of theft of electricity had been detected in district Jind, 1100 in Karnal, 691 in Kurukshetra, 525 in Sonepat, 416 in Yamuna Nagar, 422 in Jhajjar, 267 in Panipat, 233 in Rohtak, 189 in Ambala and Panchkula and 81 in Kaithal district.
In most of the cases the erring consumers had been stealing electricity through Kundi connections, meter by pass or tampering the meters. The Nigam disconnected their supply immediately and the notices had been served to the erring consumers.
