Congress-led UDF wins 18 seats in the by-elections

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 6 (UNI) The Congress-led Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) has improved their position in Kerala, by winning 18 seats in the by-elections to the local bodies.

However, the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) won only 14 seats, in elections conducted for 33 seats, while the remaining one seat was won by an independent candidate.

The BJP had to be satisfied with second position in two seats.
