Bimal Patel to be new Vice-Chancellor of GNLU
Gandhinagar, Nov 6 (UNI) Distinguished academician Bimal N Patel has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) here.
The decision was taken unanimously at the General Council, headed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan, meeting held at the Supreme Court premises on October 22, GNLU sources said here today.
Mr Patel brings to the University fifteen years of combined experience of academic leadership and research in international law, relations, organizations and academic/professional institutions.
He has published four books and many articles in leading international law journals. Mr Patel has designed, taught and supervised research activities and projects in various universities in Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
He has also prepared administrative, procedural and substantive jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and International Labour Organisation Administrative Tribunal (Geneva).
He has extensive international administrative knowledge and experience of serving the UN. Mr Patel currently holds membership of world's reputed international law associations such as American Society of International Law, Indian Society of International Law, International Law Association and is serving various international legal research committees.
