Speed governors made mandatory for school buses

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) To prevent accidents, the Chandigarh administration has made mandatory for school buses to install speed governors from December 1.

A speed governor is a device used to measure and regulate the speed of a machine such as an engine.

The administration directed that the speed governor should be set in such a way that the vehicle is incapable of being driven at a speed in excess of the maximum speed fixed at 40 km per hour under section 112 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and would be sealed by the Secretary, State Transport of Chandigarh.

Henceforth, school buses will be allowed toply after being presented for inspection with speed governors.
