Punjab's Abhinav sets a new swimming record in CBSE Nationals

Amritsar, Nov 5 (UNI) Punjab's Abhinav Dudeja has set a new record in C.B.S.E. National Swimming Tournament 2008 held recently, winning 12 medals in various categories of Swimming.

Abhinav, a class 8th student of D.A.V. Public School here, bagged the prestigious "Chacha Nehru National Swimming Scholarship" at the event held at Navrachna International School, Vadodara (Gujarat), a preess release said here today.

With two gold medals in 50 m backstroke and 100 m backstroke respectively, making a New National Meet record in 100 m backstroke, Abhinav also grabbed a bronze medal in 100 m freestyle.

Bolstered by Abhinav's achievements, his father Ajay Dudeja, have decided to train him in a leading swimming club of Sydney (Australia).

"Australia has produced some of the finest swimmers in recent times. I want Abhinav to get the best possible training," says Mr Dudeja.
