One extortionst arrested with hand grenade in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 5 (UNI) Security forces today arrested an extortionsit alongwith a hand grenade in the Sher-e-Khas, a senior police officer said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S A Mujtaba told reporters here this afternoon that complaints were being received in the city that some criminals were extorting money from the people after threatening them with a hand grenade.

He said police assisted by 161 batallion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) laid a trap and the accused, identified as Yasir Ziya Kashoo, a local resident, was arrested alongwith a hand grenade.

The accused used to extort money from people using threats to explode grenade in their houses.

Yasir was arrested earlier also alongwith one pistol, One magazine, three rounds and hand grenade. However, he was given bail by a court.
