Madurai: Free ambulance service launched

Madurai, Nov 5: Free ambulance service was launched in Madurai on Tuesday, Nov 4. Madurai is the second ciry after Chennai to get this special status. 'Call 108 Emergency" (toll-free 24-hour service), was launched and the service is equipped with 13 ambulances with emergency equipment.

People can dial 108 in an emergency from either a landline or mobile (even a local telephone booth) without prefixing any code number. Emergencies covered include medical, police and fire. Within 20 minutes Ambulance will pick up the patient and pre-hospital care will be provided.
