Madurai: Dalit youth injured in police firing

Madurai, Nov 5: In the ongoing clashes between Police and Dalits, a dalit youth was killed in police firing at Kottaipatti, one-and-a-half-km from Uthapuram in Madurai district.

The incident followed a clash between the police and villagers, who were protesting against Sunday"s attack on the convoy of Puthiya Tamilagam leader K Krishnasamy. The villagers demanding arrest atarted stone pelting and damagin public property. When police asked the villagers to remove the barricades and stop the protest there was a heated exchange of words, which escalated into a clash and police resorted to firing to disperse the mob.
