Pondy: Indefinite strike by teachers called off

Puducherry, Nov 5: The indefinite strike by the Joint Action Committee of government teachers association to press their demands was called off today.

The decision to call off the stir was taken after the committee representatives had discussions with Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and senior officials of the Education department here last night.

The Chief Minister, during the talks had agreed to give the goahead on the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommednations to the teachers in a couple of days and also to take a decision on granting of Assured Carreer Progression (ACP) scheme after a discussion in the next Cabinet meeting, which was accepted by the committee.
