Doctors in Punjab asked to remain alert against dengue

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (uni) All the district health officers in Punjab have been asked to remain alert, following detection of dengue cases in various parts of the state.

Stating this here today, Health Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla said that the Health Department was all equipped to handle the emergency cases. Expressing concern over the reported causalities due to dengue fever in the state, the Minister urged the people with suspected symptoms to rush to the nearest hospitals.

She sought the help of other departments for setting up of district-level task force to check this disease.

The Minister said that medicines, diagnostic kits and blood platelets have been made available at the government hospitals. A formal advertisement campaign to create awarness about dengue and its spread had been launched.

The MCs have also been asked to maintain cleanliness in the cities and a meeting of doctors working under the Zila Parishad would be held to review the situation. She said all government hospitals had been put on alert and the Department staff had been asked to keep a close eye on any suspected dengue cases.
