Utt Goenkara demands resignation of Goa CM

Panaji, Nov 4 (UNI) A local NGO, Utt Goenkara, today demanded immediate resignation of Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat for his alleged involvement in the October 13 brutual assault on its spokesperson Adv Aires Rodrigues and Prajal Sakhardande.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Adv Rodrigues alleged that it was revealed that Mr Kamat had given his green signal for the assault.

It is therefore very important that the Chief Minister be made a co-accused in the case, he said.

He said two days prior to the assault on him, a meeting was held by the Chief Minister, where Congress MLAs and senior police officers were also present, and discussed the manner of the assault to liquidate him.

Mr Rodrigues said he was shocked to hear about the alleged involvement of Chief Minister in the assault. He said he had briefed AICC general secretary and in-charge of Goa desk B K Hariprasad by telephone last night. He had promised to look into the matter, he informed.

He also demanded that scientific tests like brain-mapping be conducted on Mr Kamat to ascertain his exact role in the assault.

A delegation of Utt Goenkara activists will call on Goa Governor S S Siddhu tomorrow, when it will demand for Mr Kamat's resignation, he added.
