Mangalore: Yakshotsava valedictory on Nov 4

Mangaluru, Nov 4: Valedictory of Rashtriya Thenkana Yakshotsava, a nationwide tour by Yaksha Manjusha headed by artiste Vidya Kolyur, will be held at Mangalore Town Hall on Tuesday, November 4 at 6 30 pm.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Nov 1 Ms Kolyur said that the team visited 15 states and performed in 110 stages in the last 3 years. 'Maa Mahishamardhini,' a Yakshagana in Hindi, cut short to a duration of 1 and half hours was presented at various places in North India including Agra, Varanasi, Bengal and Kashmir. Ms Kolyur fondly recalled her performances for soldiers in Kashmir and for Bengalis during Durga Pooja.
Veteran Yakshagana artistes K Govinda Bhat and Pathala Venkataramana Bhat who received Rajyotsava Award will be felicitated at the valedictory function. 'Maa Mahishamardhini" will be staged on the occasion. Also, a documentary on the tour will be screened.

Chairman of Karnataka Bank Ananthakrishna, Yakshagana Critic Prabhakar Joshi, Chairman of Yakshagana Academy Kumble Sundar Rao and Kannada Sahitya Parishad District President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura will be the chief guests on the occasion, Ms Kolyur added.
