LJP condemns killing of Bihari immigrants in Assam

New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today condemned the killings of people from Bihar in Nagaon district of Assam yesterday by some divisive elements.

The party, in a release, has appealed to the Assam Government to take all comprehensive measures to protect life and property of Bihari immigrants in the State.

The deliberate attack on Hindi-speaking settlers , mostly traders and cultivators in the garb of casteism and regionalism by the divisive forces, is against the interest of unity and integrity of the country, the release said.

Three traders hailing from Bihar were killed by Karbi militants in Nagaon district of Assam yesterday.

They were dragged out of their houses and shot dead in the village playground. The deceased were identified as Jogeswar Shah (55), his son Mahesh Shah (30) and Pawan Sharma (27).
