34th State Science Exhibition begins
Chandigarh, Nov 4 (UNI) The 34th State Science Exhibition with objective of popularising science among children, teachers and public in general began at the State Institute of Education here today.
Mr Pradip Mehra, Adviser to the Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator, inaugurated the exhibition, organised in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi. The exhibition will remain open till November 7.
The theme of the exhibition is science and technology for global sustainability. The sub-themes are: agricultural and food security, harnessing energy, conservation of natural resources, combating climate change, disaster management and mathematical modeling.
Students from 60 schools of the 'City Beautiful' are participating in the exhibition. The Adviser took round of the exhibition and students explained him about the functioning of the models.
As many as 140 exhibits revealing solutions on the issues relating to environmental problems are displayed by the students of different schools. Most of the models were examples of innovation and scientific creativity. Prizes worth Rs 1000, Rs 750 and Rs 500 will be given to students achieving first, second and third positions respectively.
