Troops, police charged of fake encounter
Imphal, Nov 3 (UNI) A sit-in was today organised at Uripok here in protest against the alleged killing of a youth in ''fake encounter'' by police and troops.
The Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) had stated that one Th Iboyaima of Uripok was killed in an encounter on November 1 at Senapati district.
An FIR was filed by the wife of the deceased at Heingang police station.
It was stated that Iboyaima was a former member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and surrendered in front of the Manipur Chief Minister about ten years back and was staying at the family quarter of 7 Manipur Rifles Battalion Headquarters.
Iboyaima was arrested on November 1 and the next day it was stated that troops of 16 Assam Rifles and police killed him in an encounter.
The wife of the deceased demanded punishment for the 16 AR and Manipur Police personnel for allegedly killing the youth in a fake encounter.
