Maderna reaches Delhi to meet Sonia
Jodhpur, Nov 3 (UNI) Amid reports of dissidence among Jats over allotment of Congress tickets for upcoming assembly polls, former Speaker Paras Ram Maderna has proceeded to New Delhi to hold discussion with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
According to sources close to Mr Maderna, the ailing Congress veteran reached New Delhi this afternoon. He had gone to the capital on a call from Ms Gandhi, the sources said.
Mr Maderna may meet Ms Gandhi tonight or tomorrow, a senior Congress leader and former minister told UNI over telephone from New Delhi.
As many as 21 Jats figured in the first list of 116 candidates released by the party last week, however, the community leaders were unhappy over allotment of ticket.
Mr Maderna, who has been keeping away from active politics for past decade, had expressed his dissatisfaction over "inadequate" representation to people from farming community, at a press conference here on Friday.
He had also written to Ms Gandhi to convey his feelings.
