Governor reviews poll arrangements in Baramulla
Srinagar, Nov 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today reviewed the overall security situation and the arrangements being made for the ensuing Elections to seven Assembly segments in Baramulla district.
The Governor impressed upon the Returning Officers and the other staff designated for the conduct of Elections to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct and other guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
He said every possible effort shall be made to ensure that the Elections are held in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The District Election Officer, Baseer Khan, who is also the District Election Officer, gave a detailed presentation regarding the poll related arrangements made in the district.
He said seven Assembly constituencies of Baramulla, Pattan, Uri, Sopore, Gulmarg, Sangrama and Rafiabad have a total electorate of 5,18,964.
The number of migrant voters is 7,689.
As many as 743 polling stations are being set up in the district, scheduled to go for polls on December 7, 2008. Of these, 445 Polling stations are sensitive and 298 are hyper-sensitive.
He also briefed the Governor about the preparation of EPICs, EVM training to the poll staff, transport, security, contingency and other required arrangements.
The Governor also chaired a meeting of senior Civil, Police and the Army officers and reviewed the overall security situation in the district.
