245 polling booths set up for 1,87,388 voters in Bandipora district

Srinagar, Nov 3 (UNI) As many as 245 polling booths are being set up for 1,87,388 voters to elect three representative from as many assembly segments in Bandipora district, going to the polls on November 17 in the first phase along with seven other constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.

The District Election Officer (DEO), Bandipora, said of these polling stations, only 25 are normal.

He said 50 polling booths are hyper sensitive, while all the additions, deletions and corrections have been made in the voter lists in 170 sensitive booths of the district.

For ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections in all the three assembly segments, the district has been divided into 15 zones and 30 sectors.

Adequate number of security forces would be deployed to instill confidence among the voters to exercise their democratic right without any fear.

He said contesting candidates, their agents besides polling staff would also be provided proper security during the polling.
