SP to agitate against razing of Sardar Patel's idol

Lucknow, Nov 2 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party (SP) today announced a stir against the Uttar Pardesh government on November 5 for demolishing the bust of First Home Minister of Independent India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in Pratapgarh district.

SP state working president Shivpal Singh Yadav here addressing newspersons said it was disappointing to see such rude behaviour with the idol of a great leader like Sardar Patel.

''One should not forget his valuable contribution towards the good of the country. He had walked shoulder-to-shoulder with great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and Dr Lohia,'' Mr Yadav added.

The party would, however, not keep quiet and stage a boisterous protest at district headquarters on Novemnber 5.

During the agitation, the activists would also seek the resignation of CM Mayawati and Pratapgarh District Magistrate and Police Superintendent from the central government, he informed.
