56 lk pilgrims visit Mata Vaishno Devi

Jammu, Nov 2: Over 56 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi till October this year, an official source on Sunday, Nov 2 said.

As many as 6,31,790 devotees paid their obeisance in the holy cave shrine alone in the month of October, the source said, asserting that 28,000 to 29,000 pilgrims were reaching daily the base camp town of Katra for further journey to the holy cave shrine on the Trikuta hills. The pilgrimage was severely affected for more than two months -- July and August -- due to the agitation on the Amarnath land controversy, the source said.
