HP CM discusses of Baddi township problems with Punjab, Haryana

Shimla, Nov 2 (UNI) |The Himachal Pradesh government has urged Punjab and Haryana to take up construction or repair of roads in their respective areas leading to the industrial township of Baddi on a priority bases.

This issue was raised by HP Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal when he met Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda seprately at Chandigarh yesterday evening.

Prof Dhumal requested both the Chief Ministers to dispose of the "common issues" in a phased manner and through bilateral talks so that all northern States could be benefitted.

An official released issued here today, stated that Mr Badal assured Prof Dhumal that the construction work of Kurali-Siswan-Baddi road would be completed in a time bound manner, latest by June next year and necessary directions had been given to the concerned officers in this connection. On the completion of this road the industrial units of both the states would be benefitted as it would facilitate industrialists to transport their produce to major airports and ports in the country.

Prof Dhumal also vigorously took up the matter of the repair and maintenance of Pinjore-Baddi road with Mr Hooda and urged him to repair on priority the 18 km stretch from Pinjore to Madhwala which falls in Haryana so that the industrial units of the area could be benefitted with better road facilities. Mr Hooda has assured the HP CM that the repair work on this road would be carried out within 30 days and the officers of the concerned department would be given the necessary directions.

The release stated that Prof Dhumal would also take up other issues of the industrialists and the residents of Nalagarh-Baddi-Barotiwala area with the neighbouring states. The HP Government was resolving all the problems faced by the industrialists and locals in collaboration with Punjab and Haryana.

At the two meetings at Chandigarh, Prof Dhumal assured the Chief Ministers of both the states that Himachal Pradesh was according priority to the construction and repair of the roads within its territory. The HP CM has called for disposing of all issues with neigbouring states through mutual cooperation.

In yesterdays meeting, Prof Dhumal reiterated the commitment of his Government to establish better rapport and mutual understanding with Punjab and Haryana.
