MP, Chhattisgarh celebrate foundation day

Bhopal, Nov 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh is celebrating its 53rd foundation day today with cultural programmes across the state.

In the state capital, Governor Balram Jakhar is scheduled to inaugurate a week-long ''Madhya Pradesh Utsav'' at Ravindra Bhavan this evening.

Prominent artistes, specially musicians, will perform at the festival. ''Maihar band' set up by Ustad Allauddin Khan will also give its performance, official sources said.

Chhattisgarh, which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000, also celebrates its ninth foundation day today.
