Jaya demands release of party members

Chennai, Nov 1 (UNI) All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today demanded immediate release of all partymen, who were arrested by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) Government, when they launched an agitation protesting against the attack on her convoy at Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram District on October 30.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa said partymen, led by Propaganda Secretary M Thambidurai, had staged a protest demonstration in Dharmapuri after obtaining permission from the police, but they were arrested and cases have been registered against them under non-bailable sections.

Police have also arrested AIADMK volunteers, who staged protest demonstrations, all over the state and demanded their immediate release.

Accusing the police of acting like ruling the DMK partymen, she said the police should withdraw the cases filed against partymen, who had staged protest demonstrations after obtaining police permission and set them free.
