Chhattisgarh celebrates 8th anniversary

Raipur, Nov 1 (UNI) Chhattisgarh is celebrating its 8th anniversary of foundation in a low key manner in view of enforcement of the model code of conduct for the Assembly elections.

Congratulating the people on the occasion, Chief Minister Raman Singh said, ''There is unlimited potential for development of the state, which is bestowed with natural resources. The nascent state had developed in all sectors in the last eight years.'' Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi, in his message, said the state would be enlisted in the category of developed states soon.

Among several programmes being organised on the occasion, Governor E S L Narasimhan would inaugurate the week-long ''Rajyotsav'' this evening.

Chhattisgarh, known as the rice bowl, was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000.
