Puducherry, Oct 31: Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 24th death anniversary here today.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, his Cabinet colleagues, Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) Parliamentary party leader M Ramadass, legislators and senior officials of the territorial administration, were among others, who garlanded the statue of Indira Gandhi.
Versus from the holy scriptures were read out and a two-minute silence was observed to mark the occasion.
Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) President A V Subramanian and other party functionaries also garlanded the statue on the occasion.
Earlier, tributes were paid Indira Gandhi at the PCC office here, in which Mr Subramanian, Mr Vaithilingam, his cabinet collegues and other party office-bearers participated.
Leaders and volunteers of the Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) also paid tributes to her at the party office here.
Planting of saplings and poor feeding were held at several places on the occasion.
