Samaritan distributes wrist watches to promote girls education

Hisar, Oct 31 (UNI) In a gesture to promote girls education, a samaritan has distributed 280 wrist watches to all students of the Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Badhya Brahmanan village in this district.

Titan watches were given to all girl students of the school by village resident Inder Sharma yesterday to encourage and motivate parents to send their daughters to school. Last year, he gave uniform to all the girls of the school.

Mr Sharma, a strong exponent of girls' education, had built the school building and handed it over to the government for opening a girls' school in the village, said Principal Archana Sehgal.

At the first annual function of the school in 2006, Mr Sharma had given golden ear-rings to all girls of the school. Since then the number of students in the school was increasing every year.

Yesterday, the school organized a cultural function which was presided by Mr Sharma. Former Minister Subhash Goyal was the chief guest on the occasion.

Mr Goyal said on this occasion that sincere efforts of Mr Sharma had borne fruit and now parents were sending their daughters to the school willingly.

Earlier most of the girls of this area were uneducated and illiterate.
