Farmer in TN district creates record in paddy yield
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 31 (UNI) A farmer from Thathamangalam village in this district of Tamil Nadu had recorded a paddy yield of 11.56 tonnes a hectare with rice intensification technique, according to official sources.
The sources said the harvest in the farm of M. Subramanian, who had cultivated ADT 35 paddy variety in an acre, was conducted here on October 29 in the presence of Agriculture Department officials and the yield was recorded at 46.250 kg a cent.
This worked out to 4.625 tonnes an acre and 11.56 tonnes a hectare. This was the highest yield recorded in the district so far this season and the produce would fetch about Rs 48,500 to the farmer and his profit would be around Rs 40,000, the sources added.
