Tiruchirapalli collects 10 lk for SL Tamils' relief

{image-sl=tamils1_30102008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Tiruchirapalli, Oct 30: The Sri Lankan Tamils Relief Fund has collected over Rs ten lakh from Tiruchirapalli, according to District Collector T Soundiah.

In a press release here today, he said State Transport Minister K N Nehru had contributed Rs 50,000 to the fund, while City Mayor Charubala Thondaiman, MLAs Anbil Periyasamy, K N Sekaran, A Soundirapandiyan and R Rani contributed Rs 25,000 each. District Welfare Commitee Treasurer K Govindaraju handed over a cheque for Rs one lakh to the collector. Mr Govidaraju, also the Director of the city-based NGO SEVAI, also donated Rs 25,000 on behalf of the SEVAI.

The Collector said philanthropists and institutions who wished to contribute towards the fund could hand over their donations to the district administration or the State Government's Finance Department directly, he added.
