Minister urges to reconsider likely ban on catering service

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 30(UNI) Kerala Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Vijayakumar today urged the Railway Ministry to reconsider the decision of banning catering service in railway stations by the Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

In a letter to Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Mr Vijayakumar, who is also incharge of Railways, said the Ministry should reconsider the decision.

The minister said the ban would affect thousands of railway passengers, including aged women, who were depending on the outlets for food.

As the decision would push thousands of workers engaged in catering service in 15 stations to jobless, the Government sould take reconsider the decision, a release said here.
