EC orders electoral rolls revision for A
Port Blair, Oct 30 (UNI) The schedule for revision of electoral rolls, in response to Andaman and Nicobar Parliamentary Committee, has been announced as per an Election Commission of India directive.
In line with this, the revision of parliamentary rolls would be revised with reference to January 1, 2009, the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Tehsildar, Port Blair) said in an official release.
The draft publication of photo electoral rolls would be done on November 10, while the claims as well as objections would be entertained up to November 24, the release said.
A special campaign would also be carried out with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections on November 16 and November 23, it added.
Similarly, the disposal of claims and objections to the draft parliamentary photo rolls will be carried out from November 25 to December 24 and the final publication of rolls will be done on January 10, 2009.
With a view to facilitating the revision of Electoral Rolls, a number of officials have been appointed as designated officers for the polling stations to receive claims and objections.
Besides, the designated officers, along with the respective booth level officers of various Tehsils in the islands, would also be imparted training from November 3, the release further informed.
