AI flight delayed by three hours; offloads unruly passenger
Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) New Jersey-bound Air India flight (AI-191) was today delayed for nearly three hours at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport here, after a passenger, under the influence of alcohol, created havoc in the aircraft.
Sources in Air India and police said the flight was ready for take off at the scheduled time at 0745 hrs. A passenger, identified as M Harishchandra Sharma, was creating trouble for others in an inebriated state. After the doors of the aircraft were closed, crew noticed the passenger who was shouting and changing seats again and again despite several requests by crew to be quiet.
However, he did not comply and continued to shout.
Then, crew informed the captain and subsequently the airport police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Accordingly, the passenger was handed over to the police. Finally, the flight left for New Jersey at around 1100 hrs, the sources added.
