Mob picket police station demanding withdrawal of cases
Puducherry, Oct 29 (UNI) A 50-member mob from Vanarapet, led by CPI town Secretary Anand today picketed the Mudaliarpet Police Station demanding immediate withdrawal of cases "foisted" against four persons from the area, according police.
However, the agitators claimed cases, registered against four persons from Vanarpet in connection with an assault of one Ramesh of the same area, were 'foisted' and it forced them to resort to agitation.
They called the agitation off when police officials held talks with them and assured them to look into the matter and take a decision in a week's time.
Meanwhile, traders in Grand Bazaar today put up a road blockade on the busy Nehru street and Gandhi street junction condemning the Puducherry municipality for it's failure to remove the garbages from the market.
Senior police officials intervened and pacified them and the garbages were removed later.
