Maoist guerillas burn down mobile tower in south Bihar

Gaya, Oct 29 (UNI) Maoist guerillas torched a private mobile tower at Bharondaha Bazar area near here last night, destroying it completely, police today said.

Police said the incident took place after a group of heavily armed extremists reached the deserted market place after midnight and torched the tower after forcing the lone guard to flee.

Soon the entire tower, belonging to a private operator, was gutted beyond repair and the extremists left without facing any resistance.

Incidentally, the undergroud guerillas had burnt down at least seven such towers in this extremist-dominated district during the past two months, police said.

The prime reason behind such activity was to destroy the communication facility in the area and to enable the Maoists to carry out their operations without any hinch, police added.
