BJP used "terror links for political advantage" : Congress

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) Asserting that the Pragya Singh episode has exposed the BJP's direct links with terrorists, the Congress today charged the major Opposition party with using the links with those accused of terrorism to polarise votes on communal lines and thereby gain political advantage.

"They have become a matter of doubt. Whether the BJP itself, which has long spoken against terrorism, is not actually a part of the problem or actually involved with known terrorists such as Pragya Singh," AICC Spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told mediapersons here.

"It has also become a matter of doubt whether these links are used by the BJP and its sister organisations for electoral advantage to polarise votes at the time of elections or at the other politically convenient time." She said the BJP, which had proclaimed aloud on how to take a strong stand against terrorism, now stood exposed along with its sister Sangh Parivar organisations of direct links with terrorists .

" We first call upon the BJP to come clean and inform the nation regarding the exact nature of involvement of its senior leaders, including President Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with Pragya Singh, who has been accused of involvement in Malegaon and other blasts." In this context, she said there were photographs which showed Pragya Singh in close conversation with the BJP leaders. "This is a clear evidence of her link with the BJP leaders." "We call upon the Director of Revenue Intelligence to probe the source of considerable funds that have gone to Pragya Singh and her family." Highlighting the "deafening silence" of the BJP leaders on this issue, she called upon them to give the nation a proper explanation.
