Three Elephants rescued from Bombay Circus
Mysore, Oct 28 (UNI) Three elephants, allegedly tortured and no fed well by Great Bombay Circus have been rescued by the Forest Department officials on a complaint from two NGOs today.
The Assistant Conservator of Forests Srinivasan, who along with Veterinarian Dr Nagaraj visited the Circus asked the authorities to handover the elephants which were being tortured and not looked after properly under the provisions of Wildlife Act.
Mr Srinivasan told media persons that the two NGOs had reportedly visited the Circus premises sometime back and inspected the treatment being meted out to the three elephants, Munniya (35), Baby (55) and Barkha (50).
They submitted a report to the Forest Department, later the Zoo authorities have been asked the submit a report on the conditions of the animals. Based on their report, the Principal Secretary, Forest Department issued an order to rescue the elephants and shift them to Bannerghatta National Park in Bangalore.
Later all1 the three elephants have been transported to the Park in lorries.
