Six arrested fishermen released by Lanka Government

Chennai, Oct 28 (UNI) Six Indian fishermen, arrested by Sri Lanka, were released today.

Official sources said the fishermen were arrested on September ten by Sri Lanka police when they went for fishing.

As they strayed and reached Trincomolee, Sri Lankan fishermen took them to a police station there.

In the meantime, families of the fishermen informed the Centre.

The Government, in turn, took up the issue with the Indian High Commission.

The Indian High Commission office spoke to the authorities concerned in Sri Lanka and ensured that the fishermen reach here by an Indian Airlines flight.
