Hilary Swank's appeal to women to donate hair for cancer victims' wigs

Washington, Oct 28 : American actress Hilary Swank has made an appeal to women to cut off their hair, and donate them to a charity that makes wigs for women with cancer.

Swank donated her own hair after chopping them off for her role as aviator Amelia Earheart in a new movie.

She is now campaigning for Beautiful Lengths to encourage other women to make a contribution, by giving their hair to those who lose it when they undergo chemotherapy.

"One in three women are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. A lot of my family members have had their lives devastated by cancer," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

"You just need to have eight inches (of hair) to donate," she added.
