Joyous Deepavali in union territory
Puducherry, Oct 27: Deepavali, the festival of lights, was celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm here on Monday, Oct 27.
People clad in new clothes lit up the skies bursting varieties of crackers together with their neighbours in several areas. They also exchanged greetings and sweets prepared according to respective customs.
Special poojas were also performed in all temples, including the famous Ganesh temple-''Manakkula Vinayagar'', where long queues were seen since early this morning.
Puducherry Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar, Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, his cabinet colleagues, union minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V Narayanasamy and leaders of several political parties greeted the people of the union territory on the occasion.
