Govt notifies 30 % interim relief to Journalists

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Government has notified 30 per cent interim relief to Journalists and Non-Journalist employees of the Newspapers and News Agencies with effect from January 8, 2008.

The notification was issued on October 24, approving the decision taken by the Union Cabinet.

The Wage Board for Journalists and Non-Journalists, headed by Justice K Narayana Kurup, recommended a 30 per cent interim relief.

The government accepted the wage board's recommendation on the quantum of the interim relief without any change.

The Wage Board submitted its report on June 28 this year.

Mr Narayana Kurup has submitted his resignation to the government after submitting the Wage Board's recommendation on interim relief.

The government has not yet appointed a new chairman, in place of Mr Kurup, in a clear indication that there will be delay in the submission of its final report by the Wage Board.
