Sukhbir Badal predicts UPA will be out in next Lok Sabha polls

Hoshiarpur, Oct 26 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today claimed that the UPA government led by the Congress had miserably failed on all fronts and it would definitely be voted out of power in the next Lok Sabha polls.

''Price hike of essential commodities has broken all previous records and it has become difficult for a common man to pull on,'' he said while talking to mediapersons here.

The SAD leader demanded that the prices of petrol and diesel should be slashed as the international crude prices had fallen.

'' It seems the government was only functioning in a manner to please some of the big industrial houses of the country,'' he added.

The ban on export of certain superior qualities of paddy had hit the marginal farmers, he added.

Replying to a question, Mr Badal said so far no decision had been taken on whether the SAD would contest the Hoshiarpur (reserve) Lok Sabha seat or would leave the seat to its alliance partner, the BJP.

This matter would be sorted out after the announcement of the polls, he said while pointing out that the BJP had contested this seat in the last Lok Sabha polls as then it fell in the general category.

Regarding a possible poll alliance with the BSP, he said the SAD could enter into alliances with any party which was opposed to the Congress.
