SP to burn Mayawati in effigy in all villages of UP tomorrow
Lucknow, Oct 26 (UNI) The main opposition Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh would burn Chief Minister Mayawati in effigy in all the villages of the state tomorrow to protest against the detention of several party workers during a recent agitational programme.
State SP working president Shivpal Singh Yadav here today said that effigy of the CM would be burnt in all the villages of the state over illegal detention of several SP leaders and workers of Jhansi during the recently held' Ghera Dalo, Dero Dalo' agitational programme against the state government between October 21 and October 23.
Mr Yadav said the agitiational programme was totally peaceful but the Jhansi district authorities on the directive of Ms Mayawati had jailed 41 SP workers including MLA Deepak Yadavand district SP president Swadesh Patel.
'' Such undemocratic attitude of the BSP governemnt would not be tolerated when people have openly supported the SP's agitational programme against the corruption and misuse of public funds on statues and parks by the state government'', he said.
