Jodhpur to observe Diwali without fun-fare

Jodhpur, Oct 26 (UNI) In humble tribute to victims of Chamunda temple stampede, people of the Sun City has decided to keep festivities of Diwali a low key affair this year.

The district administration has decided not to decor and lit with fancy lighting, official buildings and monuments in the town.

Various traders and business organisations have also decided to celebrate the festival of lights without fun-fare. The festival shopping in the markets has also begun at a modest note.

Stampede at the temple at Mehrangarh had left 215 people dead and around 150 injured on September 30 last.

Elsewhere in the state, pre-Diwali buying is at its peak.

Despite falling Sensex and fears of global slowdown, people have been thronging markets in big way in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur and other towns.
