CLMC urges Govt to stop atrocities against minorities
Hyderabad, Oct 26 (UNI) The Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMC) of India, Andhra Pradesh Chapter, today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government should initiate measures to prevent atrocities on the people of the minority communities in the state.
Talking to newspersons here along with General Secretary Lateef Mohd Khan, President of the CLMC Rehana Sultana said a fact-finding team had visited the Bhainsa and Vottoli of Adilabad district on October 19 and met family members of the victims, village elders, local social activists and police officials to find out the facts.
The Commitee found that under the Congress regime the Hindutva forces were strenghtening themsevles, which showed soft corner of the Congress for the Hindutva forces, she alleged.
Police was totally numb on ''Hindutva terrorism'', she alleged.
The Committee also demanded a Special Act similar to the SC and ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act for the minorities.
Mr Khan said free and fair investigation should be conducted and stringet action should be taken by the police, without any political influence.
Hindutva groups such as Hindu Vahini and Bajrang Dal were spreading atrocities against the people of minority communities all over the state, Prof Sultana alleged and added it should be stopped immediately.
