Tractor-trolley, truck collision kills five

Gurdaspur, Oct 25 (UNI) Five people, including four women, were killed in a collision between a tractor-trolley and a truck near Bhagowal in the district, police today said.

According to sources, ex-sarpanch of Rasulpur village Randhir Singh, was taking his family and others to a religious function at a nearby Ghumman village, when a speeding truck collided with his trolley near Magowal village late last night.

In the accident, two women, identified as Balwinder Kaur and Joginder Kaur of Rasulpur village, died on the spot, while others riding on the trolley were seriously injured.

Among the injured, Baljit Singh, a resident of Dalerpur, Kamaljit Kaur of Rasulpur and Balwinder Kaur, a resident of Nijhharpur village were rushed to Amritsar Hospital in critical condition.

However, they succumbed to their injuries today, sources said.

The truck driver has been arrested and a case registered against him, police said.
