PDP has not opened its cards on Assembly election yet

Srinagar, Oct 25 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has still not opened its cards on participation in the ensuing Assembly elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.

The Political Affairs (PA) committee is meeting tomorrow to decide about the participation of the party in the elections, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed told a news conference here this afternoon.

He said some members of the PA are expected to arrive from Jammu and other areas today to take part in the meeting.

In reply to a question Mr Sayeed said the decision will be taken after all the PA committee members express their views.

He said during two meetings with the Election Commission of India (ECI) the PDP had made it clear that situation was not conducive for holding elections in the state.

We had told the ECI that some measures needed to be taken before holding assembly elections, he said adding for credible polls, participation of the people is must.

The PDP is the only mainstream political party who had yet to open its card on election participation in the state.

Governor N N Vohra has yesterday issued election notification for ten assembly constituencies for which polls would be held on November 17.
