Injured rhino calf dies in Assam zoo

Guwahati, Oct 25 (UNI) An injured male rhino calf, brought to Assam state zoo here on Wednesday from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary with serious injuries, succumbed today.

Zoo officials informed that the one-and-half-year-old rhino had suffered critical internal injuries during an attack by an adult rhino.

It was spotted at Pobitora on October 21 and transferred to the state zoo here a day later after veterinary doctors at the Sanctuary could not ease the calf's pain.

Veterinarians fought a losing battle to save the rhino.
