Haryana can save 25 to 30 pc power in agri sector:UHBVN

Chandigarh, Oct 25 (UNI) Haryana can save energy from 25 to 30 per cent in agriculture sector alone by making the existing tubewell system energy efficient.

This was stated by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) Managing Director Vijayendra Kumar while interacting with the farmers of the district Panchkula near here today.

He said 170 lakh units of electricity could be saved daily by making the tubewells energy efficient up to 20 per cent and setting up of a new generating unit to produce so many units of power required a massive expenditure of Rs 600 crore.

He said the Central government had made specific recommendations for energy conservation which were being implemented in the state.

Mr Kumar emphasised the need for using star rated electrical gadgets by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and other equipments approved by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS).''It will go a long way to help energy conservation by farmers.'' He urged the farmers to make timely payment of their energy bills and assured them to consider their demand of increasing power supply hours for tubewell.
